Monday march 28

This weekend, I didn't eat super healthy, but I don't feel as though I really binged on my "cheat days" as I usually do. That makes me very happy to not have to start the week off by back tracking.

This morning I ate a small protein bar (210) and half a shake (200)

On my way to work I ate a piece of string cheese (80)

At work so far I have had 10 peanuts and an apple (150)

For lunch I am having oatmeal (400)

At my late lunch break I disappointed myself a little bit and had a big sugar/ choc chip cookie with some peanut butter on it, and then a bag of popcorn... Total probably 500 kcal?

For dinner I stopped by subway and got a veggie patty salad with sweet onion sauce... It was really good and probably only 250-300kcal
I also had a skinny cow after dinner (160)

Total kcal: right around 2000... This is too much especially on days that I'm not working out! Could have been worse, but also could have been much better without the cookie and peanut butter.

March 22, 2011

Good morning... I decided to mix it up a bit today... I kept hearing such good things about a peanut butter and jelly protein bar. I tried it this morning... I was scared it was going to be loaded with sugar... The bar only had 5g of sugar and 18g of carbs.

Probably not the best breakfast, but also not the worst. I'll probably get hungry later so I'll try to make a low cal shake

I just made a shake and I used an ultramet lite packet of protein powder (190kcal) and fiber and 2 tbsp pb2... And 2 chromium and am echinacea... I'm estimating the total kcal to be 275

Ok, I am being bad and posting this the next day so I will try to remember everything...

After work I went grocery shopping. I got a rotisserie chicken that was BBQ flavor and had half of that for lunch.

Then I took a nap for 4 hours... Oops! I woke up and ate string cheese, banana and pb2

Then I went to crossfit early and ran/walked 3 miles and then did the WOD, which was 70 burpees, 60 sit ups, 50 KBS, 40 pullups, 30 HSPU (box)... It took me 22 min and was awesomely hard!!

I got home and made a spaghetti squash with meat sauce and Parmesan cheese. I ate half then went to see Red Riding Hood... Great movie!! When I got home I ate the other half and had 2 now and laters for dessert.

Total kcal est:
1700... Added about 200 kcal because I probably forgot something

Monday march 21st

Good morning... I am so tired! It's 5:30 am and I've already been at work for 45 minutes! I have to work both jobs today so don't forsee any naps in my near future... I am just excited this week is back to a normal schedule... Only working both jobs today and weds, and have nothing planned for the weekend!

This weekend (well fri sat and Sunday) I fell off the health wagon and let myself cheat way too much.... It's pretty disgusting when I think about everything I ate and I did not work out at all! I need to hop back on and be extra good this week... AJ is gone for a month and I really want to shock him with looking great when he returns!

This morning I am having my typical breakfast shake... 1 scoop protein (150). Lots of PB2 (225), echinacea, chromium, caffeine, pyruvate, and fiber... Probably around 425ish kcal.

After I got home from work I was starving (9:20am) so I ate a piece of string cheese (80kcal) and an apple (100kcal)

At work before lunch I had a cappuchino (well half of one...probably 60kcal) and 6 peanuts (100ish?)

For lunch at 1:00 I had a chicken marsala meal from the gym... It had 300 kcal

I went home for a late lunch break around 3:45 and had string cheese, a few slices dried mangos, 4 yogurt covered raisins, and banana chips... Then I got back to work and had a small orange... Probably ate a total of 400 kcal... Need to have light dinner!

For dinner I had a spaghetti squash... It was sooo good!! I topped it with marinara sauce and garlic salt and lemon pepper. I could eat one every day they're so delicious!! (200)

For dessert I had 5 now and laters (100)

Total estimated kcal: 1800ish

March 17th, 2011

Happy St. Patty's day!!!

Breakfast
It's 5:30 AM and I just made myself a shake with 1 1/2 scoops of protein powder (225kcal) 4 tbsp of PB2 (90kcal), 1 scoop Quaker oats, chromium, fiber and a little caffeine... I am estimating the total calories to be about 425-450ish.

I just weighed myself and got my body fat reading ( the perks of working at a gym!)
Currently my weight is at around 138-139. I would love to be in the 120's but the lower 130's is my short term goal and I have been there before and have been happy with my body there.
My body fat is currently at 22%... I guess this is pretty good, but I would love to be around 19%.

I will continue to weekly get my weight and body fat and keep this updated with my info!

Lunch

Ahhh....I dissapointed myself at lunch a little bit....I always get annoyed when people say they dont have time to eat healthy....but literally I didn't have time to get food....I had a hair appointment that took a lot longer than I expected (but my hair looks fabulous! haha) and had to go straight to work...I was already running late so did not think it would be appropriate to stop and get food on the way.....I had not eaten since 5:30 so was starving as it was 2pm now.... There was cheese pizza from Mellow Mushroom at work, and I gave in and had 2 pieces....I am guessing this was probably about 500 kcal (over-estimating a little bit)....I also caved and had 1/3 of a krispy kreme donut (I don't even like donuts! grrr!) so that adds probably another 75 kcal as 1 KK Donut has 200kcal.
I have to admit, I do have a slight headache after eating all those carbs!

I will have to watch it at dinner and try to be extra healthy!

Total kcal for lunch = 575

For dinner I went up to base since AJ was on duty and brought him dinner...I wanted to make corned beef and cabbage but apparently it takes 3 hours! So instead I cut up some steak and cooked some cabbage and carrots... It was decent... Nothing special though... I probably had about 300 kcal worth if that

Workout
I went to crossfit and did the CF games workout...as many reps as possible of 30 double under jumpropes and 15 weight lifts called snatches...I thought I would do more than I did! I only got 2 1/2 rounds and was done for...I was definitely happy with the workout and have missed that kind of CF!
* I forgot to mention I ate 3 dried mango slices post workout... Probable 150ish kcal

Total kcal estimate: just under 1500

Wednesday, March 16th

Goal: I am trying to eat mostly lean meats and veggies, and a little bit of fruits, and cut back on the carbs and try to knock out most of them from my diet. Would really love to lose 10 pounds and get abs like Marissa Miller :-p

Breakfast

- protein shake (Low Carb Ultramet...230kcal) with 4 tbsp of PB2 (an awesome low calorie powdered peanut butter...2 tbsp=45kcal), 2 small scoops fiber, and a scoop of oats (I know, not exactly following the no carb thing, but I think this is an exception that I can deal with)....total kcal probably around 400-450
* I get to work at 4:45am and make my shake there at around 5:15 or 5:30 normally, and need something that keeps me full until I get home from work at 10am)

Snack

- 2 string cheeses (80 kcal each).....I know, I know.....2 is probably excessive. oops.

Lunch

- Pre-packaged meal from the gym with grilled chicken, yams, and broccoli (325 kcal)

Snack

- 1/2 to-go sized trail mix (200 kcal-ish)
- 3 slices dried Mangoes (75kcal-ish)
- A few yogurt covered raisins (25 kcal)
*total snack = 300 kcal

Dinner
- 1 cup Greek Yogurt with some honey (250ish kcal)

Daily total kcal = Just around 1500

Oh, by the way...not that you care, but it's 8:30 and I am off to bed....I couldn't be more excited about sleep than I am right now!! My body needs to re-charge!

Today's Workout:

I am beyond exhausted...I can barely keep my eyes open while typing this and left work early because I was so tired and dizzy....I have been sleeping about 4 hours a night, 5 if I'm lucky....I can't do that to myself anymore.....I really wanted to go to crossfit today but just couldn't bring myself to do it, especially after leaving work....I have been extremely tight in my lower back/hip flexors lately and in some pain...I really need to loosen up and gain some flexibility back.....I decided to hop on Netflix and see what they had to offer in terms of exercise videos....I found a Crunch fitness Pilates video and gave it a try....I was very pleasantly surprised! I am usually skeptical about Pilates videos and feel like I did not get a workout in after, but throughout this one I was sweating and feeling the burn! My core got a great workout and my back already feels a little better. I doubt I burned a ton of calories, but that workout was just what I needed :)

Why....

Hello to anyone reading this! i don't really expect anyone to be reading this, as this is something more to keep myself accountable, but if you are, then thank you and I will explain to you why I decided to blog about my health experiment. I am currently 25 years old, and just moved across the country to be with the man that I love more than anything in the world! When I moved, I left most everything in CA and have started a whole new life out here in NC. That meant finding a new career and trying to figure out what it is that I am passionate about. I spent the last 2 years as a flight attendant, and I absolutely loved it. Sometimes the actual working part sucked, but traveling is something that I am extremely passionate about and hope to do more of in the future. As much as I loved my job, I always felt that it was just a job....something that I enjoyed greatly, but not what I saw myself making a career out of and being happy about. When I decided to move here, I knew that it was time to figure out exactly what it was that I wanted to do with my life and just go for it. I was starting fresh and there was nothing holding me back besides me and my own fears. After much soul searching, I decided that I want to be a personal trainer and help other people gain confidence and become healthy. I am currently working at the front desk of a gym to get my foot in the door, and am now in the process of getting my NASM certification.
I have been an athlete for as long as I can remember (well until I graduated college that is).... staying in shape is something that is and always has been very important to me. The only classes I recall actually being interested in and listening to were my nutrition classes....I consider myself very knowledgeable and passionate about fitness and nutrition, but a lot of the time I don't do what I know I need to. I can tell people exactly how they need to eat and what they need to do to lose weight and be healthy, yet I still find myself turning to the frozen yogurt and candy to satisfy my sweet tooth. I am not fat or out of shape, but my body is not where I would like it to be, and I know I can be better. I have definitely made improvements, as I have stopped eating so many sweets and have been going to crossfit several times a week in addition to other workouts. AJ (the bf) and I have been trying to change our eating habits and trying to cut out most sugars and carbs. We have both come pretty far, however there are a lot of things that can still be improved.
Ok, enough with my blabbering and I will get to the point of this whole thing now....this blog will be a log of what I am eating every day, what I am doing to work out, and how I am feeling physically, mentally, blah blah blah. It is basically my journal to find out what works for me and what doesn't, and a place where I can track my results, and share them with anyone who is actually reading this! I have tried so many different diets, but have never really changed my habits permanently. Since I want to inspire others to be fit and healthy, I need to be those things myself. It's pretty much now or never. Not saying I'll never have sour patch kids ever again, but I just need to make sure I realize how many I am actually eating. I tend to have a problem with moderation in all aspects of life, and need hold a healthy mindset for food, instead of being terrified of it and hating myself for days if I have a piece of cake. I need to change my habits and if I splurge I splurge...no regrets, no more beating myself up! I think it is very important to have a healthy view of food, and I hate to admit it, but I don't...at all. I hate food, but love it at the same time....It consumes my thoughts and emotionally drains me. This blog will also be about my journey to seeing food in a positive and non-terrifying manner. Alright seriously, I am done now. If you read this far, I am impressed.
